A firm seedbed will always yield the best forage for wildlife. Using a culti-packer or light drag, firm the seedbed before and after you broadcast the seed. This will speed up germination by improving seed to soil contact. If the heal of your boots leave more than a 1/2 inch impression in the soil it needs to be firmed up.
