Fertilizing

Work with the Parish Ag Center to test the soil. Check the entire area by taking samples from several locations across the area to be planted. You may want to mix these together to make one large sample. However it is done, follow the results to achieve a 6.5 to 7.0 pH. Soil pH affects the amount of fertilizer a plant can use. Using lime will raise the pH.

Soil pH

6.5 Slight 90%
6.0 Moderate 80%
